Castlemaine Art Museum Update

Thursday August 10th, 2017

At a meeting of members of Castlemaine Art Museum (CAM) held last week, the board of CAM announced it had received a donation of $250,000 from anonymous donors. The funding will be delivered over two years to support CAM’s operating costs and the removal of the current admission fees. The art museum also received $50,000 from Melissa Macfarlane, founder of The Macfarlane Fund.

The board of CAM has announced the art museum will open on reduced hours; Thursday – Sunday, 12pm to 5pm, starting from next Thursday 17 August 2017.  The PGAV spoke with Jan Savage, Chair, CAM Board this week and were told staffing arrangements are underway, however plans are not yet finalised.  The PGAV highlighted the importance of the gallery being staffed by appropriately qualified professional staff. We continue to extend our support to CAM to ensure its immediate and its long-term viability.
