Seb Chan has been appointed as ACMI's new Director and CEO. Seb has played a key part in the organisation’s $40 million renewal project. Seb joined ACMI as Chief Experience Officer in 2015, as the senior executive responsible for the Experience & Engagement division of the museum, guiding teams responsible for visitor experience, marketing, brand & communication design, digital products, technology, and the museum’s collections, digitisation & digital preservation programs. He designed and leads ACMI's CEO Digital Mentoring Program (2021-ongoing), working with CEOs and directors across the Australian arts and cultural sector. He is currently the National President of the Australian Museums and Galleries Association.
Victorian Minister for Creative Industries Steve Dimopoulos said: “ACMI is one of our most innovative, forward-thinking cultural institutions, and Seb is a groundbreaker and leader who brings great vision, imagination, and a deep commitment to making cultural experiences accessible and inclusive for all.”
While recruitment for a new CEO took place, ACMI was led by Acting Director & CEO Graham Jephcott, who now resumes his role as Deputy CEO and Executive Director Commercial and Operations.
