Gippsland Art Gallery are calling for artists to enter the John Leslie Art Prize, the Gallery’s biennial $20,000 acquisitive prize for landscape painting.
The John Leslie Art Prize is one of Australia’s most prestigious art prizes, and is open to any artist living and working in Australia. Artists are invited to enter up to two original paintings, with a Gallery-appointed panel to shortlist a selection of finalists for exhibition from 22 September to 25 November 2018.
The 2018 John Leslie Art Prize will be judged by Andrew Frost, Art writer, critic and broadcaster. He will determine two prizes, the $20,000 acquisitive prize as well as a $1,000 non-acquisitive prize for the ‘Best Gippsland Work’. To be eligible for Best Gippsland Work Entrants must live or work within the Gippsland region defined by the borders of Wellington, Latrobe, East Gippsland, South Gippsland, Bass Coast and Baw Baw Shire Councils.
