Annalouise Paul's Uncharted Waters: The Journey of the Mother Tongue presents an immersive exploration of movement, knowledge systems and sacred geometry through a newly commissioned short dance film by dance artist, Annalouise Paul. The film reveals a sequence from Act 3 of Mother Tongue®, Paul’s ongoing project that weaves traditional dance, vocals and body rhythms with emergent technologies.
Exploring themes of peoplehood, adaptation and healing, the work poses questions about our shared future while offering a powerful encounter with choreography informed by rhythm, mathematics and biomimicry.
The installation reflects on language in two interconnected forms: the language of the body—expressed through rhythm, gesture and movement—and the spoken and sung language carried through voice. An interactive space further unpacks the creative process, revealing how ancient dance traditions and rhythms intersect with mathematical structure and patterns found in nature to form the conceptual ‘DNA’ of the work.
Together, these elements illuminate the relationships between embodied knowledge, non-verbal expression and universal design principles, offering a sensory encounter with how knowledge is transmitted, remembered and transformed across generations.
