Their Stories: A Solo Series

4 Mar 2026 – 9 Jun 2026

Three individual local First Nations artists are highlighted through this three-part series of solo exhibitions. For the artist, a solo exhibition is an opportunity to present their practice in its full complexity. It allows their ideas, stories, techniques, and cultural connections to be seen as part of an evolving and sophisticated artistic language.

At its heart, a solo exhibition for First Nations artists is more than a milestone: it is a continuation of long traditions of storytelling, a celebration of individual artistry, and an embodiment of cultural strength. It affirms the artist’s voice, grounded in Country, informed by lived experience, and shaped by the deep cultural knowledge carried through generations. Their stories: A Solo Series contributes to an ongoing reshaping of the Australian art landscape: one led by First Nations creators.

Solo artists:
Aunty Gertrude Gittins: 4 March to 30 March
Aunty Beryl Gay: 31 March to 4 April
Lynette Fagan: 5 April to 9 June
