In the contemporary funding landscape, galleries and institutions across Australia are increasingly looking towards support from philanthropists and major foundations to achieve their fundraising goals. For many, this means engaging with complex legal structures and requirements, with a long-term fundraising and governance lens.

In this webinar David Fishel (Positive Solutions), Paul Gray (Harwood Andrews Legal), along with guest panellists Rebecca Coates (Shepparton Art Museum), Gerard Mullaly and Eliza Holt (Geelong Gallery) will de-mystify these processes, drawing from their extensive experience consulting in this sector.

DAVID FISHEL, Director - Positive Solutions
Prior to co-founding Positive Solutions in 1990, David managed arts organisations ranging from small-scale touring theatre companies to arts centres and theatre venues. David has been closely involved in Positive Solutions’ facilities and precinct development projects, strategy and business development for arts and non-profit organisations, and research and policy development for government. His consulting work in governance and board development has included planning and facilitation of board development workshops and board audits for hundreds of arts and non-profit organisations across Australia. David is author of The Book of the Board, now in its third edition, a handbook for board members of non-profit organisations, published by Federation Press.

PAUL GRAY, Principal - Harwood Andrews
Paul is a Principal at Harwood Andrews and heads up its not-for-profit practice. He brings a commercial approach to the law from a broad set of experiences as a business owner, private legal advisor and in-house counsel, and having worked with management teams over many years. Paul advises local government, statutory bodies and independent cultural organisations on structure, commercial arrangements, charity and DGR aspects of their operations, including the Geelong Art Gallery, Art Gallery of Ballarat, Geelong Arts Centre and the Waterfront Film Foundation.
