Positive Solutions is a leading consultancy specialising in the cultural and non-profit sectors, with 30 years’ experience in Australia and internationally. We have worked with clients across Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and the UK, providing advice on museums and galleries, arts centres and precincts, and providing cultural planning and feasibility services. We build organisational capacity through leadership and widely-respected governance training for cultural and non-profit organisations.

Feasibility Study for the Redevelopment of Wangaratta Art Gallery, 2019
Positive Solutions was engaged to provide a Feasibility Study for the Redevelopment of Wangaratta Art Gallery, focused on selection of the best site for the Gallery. Our project team included The Maytrix Group, Kerstin Thompson Architects and Slattery. We delivered a report detailing the need for a redeveloped Gallery, the benefits, future requirements, site options and evaluation, and a cost plan for two preferred sites.

Art Gallery of Ballarat Governance Review, 2019
Positive Solutions was engaged to assist the Art Gallery of Ballarat and the City of Ballarat with advice on the most effective governance arrangements for the Gallery, including the Board, Foundation and the Association. Through benchmarking and discussion with key stakeholders in the Gallery, we have reviewed the efficacy of their current governance and provided strategic direction to align the objectives of Gallery entities.

Rockhampton Art Gallery Business Case and Governance Review, 2018
Positive Solutions was engaged to review and recommend the governance model and structure for the new Rockhampton Art Gallery, following the Council's endorsement of The Maytrix Group’s Business Case for the redevelopment of the Gallery, which articulated the project’s benefits for the City and region. Positive Solutions developed an options paper detailing potential governance arrangements for the Gallery’s Philanthropy Board as well as alternative options for a gallery membership program. This included input on legal implications and options in conjunction with McCullough Robertson Lawyers.

Castlemaine Art Gallery and Historical Museum Business Case, 2018
Positive Solutions recently worked in collaboration with The Maytrix Group, Kerstin Thompson Architects, and a multidisciplinary team to develop a business case to support the redevelopment and expansion of the Castlemaine Art Museum. This project required a reimagining of the Castlemaine Art Museum and its contribution to the life of the region. The plan includes an underpinning of best practice in gallery and precinct design, business planning, and financial forecasting.

Brisbane Powerhouse Feasibility Study and Business Planning, 1998
Feasibility study, benchmarking and business and operational planning for conversion of a redundant power station to a performing and visual arts centre, and accommodation for several arts organisations - opened 2000. Positive Solutions also led the recruitment program to appoint the Artistic Director, and prepared an initial economic impact study. Positive Solutions has recently worked with the Powerhouse on their initial Masterplanning process for an upgrade to the facility and cultural precinct development.
