'Kingston Sounds' by Susannah Langley

4 Sep 2026 – 31 Oct 2026

Venue: Kingston Arts Centre (outdoor lightbox gallery)

An exhibition in Kingston's outdoor lightbox gallery, displaying a series of abstract drawings created in virtual reality, made in response to field recordings of the sounds of places, spaces and events in the City of Kingston. In addition to seeing the work, audience members will be able use QR codes to hear the sounds on which the drawings are based.

These works build on research developed as part of Susannah Langley's Master of Fine Arts at The University of Melbourne, investigating drawing in response to environmental sounds in three-dimensional virtual environments. These artworks invite audiences to interact in some way by moving through, touching and/or listening to the work.
