Exhibiting a series of paintings exploring inherited items and their cultural significance through an Australian-Cambodian-Chinese lens.
Paintings reference stories of second-generation migrants and people born in the 90s, through a playful tone that speaks to values of sharing, appreciation and family.
The paintings reference personal hand me downs including the grey suit worn by three different cousins, the same 50 dollar note traded between siblings on birthdays and the CASIO watch from the father who is never late. The works give new life to these items, and recreates those that have been lost or passed on.
Through these pieces, anecdotes weave together traditions and practices shaped by childhood memory, tracing how they continue to inform present-day understandings of culture and self.
