Artist Statement
Sanjin Smitran, a digital artist born in Bosnia, now lives and works in Melbourne. He studied creative arts at Deakin University in Melbourne. Today, he works as a 3D artist, focusing on product visualisation by merging computer-generated renders with real-life photography. Nature and human-made objects play a significant role in Sanjin's artwork. Since he was young, Sanjin has been captivated by the profound impact of shapes, sounds, and textures. Over the years, he has continuously explored different artistic mediums in search of self-expression. This journey naturally led him to the realm of digital arts, where he now channels all of his creativity. Digital tools allow him to push the boundaries of his artwork and explore new realms of visual storytelling. Sanjin uses abstraction to evoke emotions, warp perceptions, and unlock the realms of imagination. He believes it is a powerful tool for human expression that transcends literal representation.
The BRIDGE
The BRIDGE converts a disused, third-storey walk bridge located at the Kingston City Hall into a dedicated space for projection art. The exhibition space gives artists the opportunity to present highly visible three-channel rear projections to thousands of commuters travelling along the Nepean Highway each night.
The BRIDGE projections are displayed between 5pm and 7am daily and are most visible between sunset and sunrise.
The BRIDGE Projection is located on the pedestrian bridge connecting Kingston City Hall to 999 Nepean Hwy, Moorabbin
