The Central Goldfields Art Gallery growing collection includes the works by artist of regional and national significance. Recent acquisitions include works by Dean Bowen, Arthur Boyd, Ray Crooke, Renee Gray, Pro Hart and Jeff Makin.
The Central Goldfields Art Gallery is situated in the picturesque historic fire station built in 1861, a short walk from the CBD.
The gallery is the home of the Golden Textures Contemporary Art Quilt Award (a biennial acquisitive textile Award and exhibition). Featuring outstanding art quilts from all over Australia. The gallery also showcases local talent in regularly changing exhibitions as well as in the the eagerly anticipated annual VCE Art and Design and Community Art exhibitions.

Central Goldfields Art Gallery has recently undergone a major redevelopment and reopened on 4 March 2023. This investment is described as a transformational project in Council’s Tourism and Events Strategy 2020–2025 and will take the Gallery to the next level.
