Artists in the Black at the WAG

Monday 28 May 2018, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and community members are invited to take part in Artists in the Black at the WAG.  This two-day workshop is free. Join Robyn Ayers, Arts Law CEO and Bibi Barba, Artists in the Black Coordinator, for a walkthrough of the important legal issues affecting artists: copyright, contracts, licencing, commissioning of artworks and Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP). This will be followed with a behind the scenes tour of Warrnambool Art Gallery, led by Director Vanessa Gerrans.  This is your opportunity to meet gallery staff and learn what’s involved in presenting exhibitions and managing the gallery’s collection of visual art.

Legal Advice Clinics
Arts Law Centre of Australia staff will provide free legal advice sessions for artists from 1pm - 3pm. This is your chance to ask a question about your individual legal concern. Make the most of this opportunity to gain a better understanding of the legal issues affecting your arts practice.
