Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and community members are invited to take part in Artists in the Black at Bendigo Art Gallery & La Trobe Art Institute. This free workshop will provide you with insights on what goes on behind the scenes at Bendigo Art Gallery as well as important legal issues affecting artists, presented by the team at the Arts Law Centre of Australia.
In the morning, join Robyn Ayers, Arts Law CEO, Roxanne Lorenz, Arts Law Solicitor and Bibi Barba, Artists in the Black Coordinator for a run through of the important legal issues affecting artists: copyright, contracts, licencing, commissioning of artworks and Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP).
Legal Advice Clinics
Arts Law staff will also provide free Legal Advice Clinics for artists from 1:30pm - 4pm. This is your change to ask a question about your individual legal concern. Make the most of this opportunity to gain a better understanding of the legal issues affecting your arts practice.
In the afternoon, take part in a Behind the Scenes tour of Bendigo Art Gallery, led by Jessica Bridgfoot, Curator. Meet the people who looks after Bendigo Art Gallery’s collection, put together their exhibitions and develop their public programs – this is your opportunity to learn about what they do, what they love about their work and the career pathways they took to get there.
