This selection of prints from the Colin Holden collection and the Gallery’s extensive holdings represents the diverse ways that artists have drawn on art historical precedents. Across genres and eras, each of these prints refers to the work of earlier sculptors, painters and printmakers, appropriated variously in homage or contemporary critique. Includes works by Rew Hanks, Ruth Johnstone, Chris Orr, and Sue Pickford, among others.
