Art collections
Nillumbik Shire Council Art Collection contains over 500 works of art of contemporary and historical interest.
The focus of the collection is contemporary and modernist artworks of excellence that reflect Nillumbik's artistic heritage and local culture.
Advice about what council collects is provided by Council’s Arts and Cultural Advisory Committee.
Collection categories
There are three collection categories:
Visual art collection
The visual art collection includes two and three-dimensional contemporary and modernist artworks of excellence of traditional and non-traditional mediums by emerging, mid-career and established artists.
Public art collection
The public art collection includes permanent and temporary contemporary art located in public spaces, parks and public facilities around the Shire of Nillumbik.

Civic collection
The civic collection includes objects of significance, including memorials and monuments specifically created as artworks, that relate to the social and cultural history of Nillumbik.

Nillumbik Shire Council recently received a grant to produce new display plinths and AV equipment to better create opportunities to view artworks from the collection throughout the Shire. This grant was supported by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria. The Regional Collections Access Program is delivered in partnership with AMAGA Victoria, PGAV, NGV and Regional Arts Victoria.
Support the collection
Nillumbik Shire Council has deductible gift recipient (DGR) status. This means we have been endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to receive tax deductible gifts.
