Public galleries provide great economic benefits to their communities. In 2019 the public gallery sector in Victoria employed 572 full-time equivalent staff and were supported by a pool of volunteers who provided 77,874 volunteer hours, worth $3.3 million.

Public galleries attract visitors to the region generating significant economic income with expenditure on food, accommodation, attractions, and retail.
