Return to the Beginning is a photographic exhibition exploring our psychological and physical connection to nature in contemporary life. From the beginning, the air we breathe to the ground we walk on, the human body responds and is immersed and intimately engaged with our natural surroundings. This exhibition features the work of artists who place the body in the elements of nature, or explore human presence through a view of the natural world.
Horsham Regional Art Gallery brings together historical works from the Gallery’s Collection with key figures in contemporary Australian photographic practice to explore the representation of gender and desire, Aboriginality and cultural connection, and the experience of solastalgia and profound elemental engagement. Through these images the photographers render their enduring encounter with nature, each bringing their lived experience to bare.
Curated by Alison Eggleton. A Horsham Regional Art Gallery Exhibition.
