This exhibition showcases a collection of photographs and historical artefacts that represent the first hundred years of the Society’s activities.
You will be able to see the evolution of the Society from its beginnings with artists such as Louis Buvelot and Eugene von Guerard, to be followed soon after by such artists as Frederick McCubbin, Arthur Streeton, Tom Roberts and Walter Withers. Later, in the 1920s and 30s, controversy reigned in the era of Max Meldrum and the development of ‘modern art’.
