Looking Back, Looking Forward - The Art of Cardinia Shire

12 Jul 2020 - 30 Aug 2020

Cardinia Cultural Centre Gallery is currently closed due to Covid19.
An opening date and visiting hours to be advised shortly.

Cardinia Shire Council has a collection of about 80 visual artworks, and this exhibition features around half of them. Most of this collection was selected by former shire presidents and mayors from works submitted by the community to local art shows between 1980 and 2010. This exhibition also features two more recent works: Everything Connected to the Land by Leah Horvath (2015) and Strength in Unity by Amir Tehrani (2019). Usually Cardinia Shire’s art collection is housed in various buildings throughout the shire and rarely on display as a public exhibition. As we all emerge from isolation this is a perfect time to ‘bring it out’; encouraging us to look back on these labours of love from the past, celebrate our wonderful local artists and places, and look forward to the emergence of many new artworks, artists and artforms in the years ahead.
