Katy Mitchell is the Visual Arts Coordinator at Ararat Gallery TAMA (Textile Art Museum Australia).

Ararat was one of three galleries to pilot the Victorian Digitisation Roadshow in 2019, through which Katy developed copyright agreements and liaised with artists to make the TAMA Collection accessible online. This rare opportunity to extensively learn about the collection paved the way for Katy to curate exhibitions, and in 2021 she stepped into the Coordinator role.

Since taking on this leadership role, Katy has established strong connections with local community stakeholders, created two new spaces to exhibit projects by local artists and community groups, and in the wake of the pandemic reignited the gallery's exhibition, events and education programs.

Drawing on her experience as a practising ceramicist in remote regions, Katy is an advocate for creating professional development opportunities for regional artists.
