Demonstrating Impact: Four Case Studies of Public Art Museums

Public art museums are cultural and educational institutions with intrinsic links to community. These institutions range in purpose, collections and programming, yet they share a common necessity in being accountable to a range of stakeholders. This study offers a novel approach to exploring economic and social impact in the arts, by sharing the experiences of four public art museums along their journey to impact (Bendigo Art Gallery, Shepparton Art Museum (SAM), Linden Centre for Contemporary Art and Arts Project Australia). Through this research we can begin to understand the economic and social impact of public art museums.
