Asafe Ghalib, Queer Immigrants

Asafe Ghalib, Queer Immigrants

27 Jan 2024 – 24 Mar 2024

See large-scale outdoor artworks by international artist, Asafe Ghalib in the grounds of Werribee Park Mansion as part of Queer PHOTO – a large-scale photography festival in Melbourne’s west.

Asafe Ghalib’s work is an act of both confrontation and pride.

Coming from a religious family and background, Ghalib’s work embraces rebellion to reclaim their identity and history.

Ghalib’s focus is to photograph LGBTQIA+ individuals, in a glamorous celebration allowing both photographer and subjects personality to emerge in full bloom.

The works are a fluid journey free from the characters that society applies in a form of confrontation and pride.

Asafe Ghalib’s practice will extend to the Project Hub at Wyndham Art Gallery as part of Queer PHOTO.
