Benefits of membership

The main benefits of membership are of being part of a large network of public galleries across Victoria. Our members include university galleries, art museums and contemporary art spaces in central and outer Melbourne, and large and small galleries in regional Victoria.

We promote communication and information exchange between members and other peak bodies. A members-only online forum (chatline) enables members to promote programmes, share and seek information

The PGAV organises forums, workshops, social occasions and other opportunities for networking.

We liaise with major funding and other peak bodies such as Arts Victoria, Museums Australia, AbaF (Australian Business Arts Foundation), Cultural Tourism Industry Group etc.

We promote the public gallery network through the website, flyers and direct media contact.

Major events and projects organised in 2009 for the PGAV members included the annual 2-day Conference and AGM, held at Benalla Art Gallery, an open day, Get into Art!, a forum on public programming, and two forums with international speakers. (See Programs)

The PGAV also administers the Robert Salzer Foundation grants for major acquisitions. Currently this Fund supports elligible PGAV galleries to the value of $80,000 per annum.
